Some of the benefits of the baby hammock have been confirmed to us here and some are a surprise. Here is a quick overview of our findings: Flat Head Syndrome 100% babies did not get ?flat head syndrome?. This is great, and leads me to a hospital trial with pediatricians which we would like to start this year. We hope to prove this fact formally. Colic/Reflux 87.5% of babies did not get colic/reflux only those that did were very severe cases. It is unknown whether this 87.5% is a direct result of the hammock use. This could be a very exciting case of doing a proper medical/hospital trial to formally prove that the hammock relieves or even takes away symptoms of colic/reflux. Purpose of Hammock 31% bought the baby hammock for a specific purpose, 60% of these people bought it so the bassinet wouldn?t get knocked. This is a surprise and a benefit we hadn?t thought of. Bassinet vs. Hammock Surprisingly 75% of people did not use a bassinet, which leads us to believe that our biggest competition is a bassinet. Most of them even put comments on the side, saying they tried the bassinet but the hammock was the only place their babies would settle. Night & Day Sleeps The most common question we get is ?can I use the hammock for night sleeps too?. We were surprised and pleased to see that 62.5% use for both night and day sleeps. Which also leads us to the bassinet competition that we mentioned earlier. As you can see 75% of people use the hammock only for their babies sleep. Hook vs. Stand 62.5% Hook Only! This is a surprise and is a bit misleading as over 90% of survey was completed by New Zealand customers, where the hook is more popular. Also, is a bit confusing as we have found that our latest statistics that 80% (NZ only) of people buy a stand with the hammock, this has not reflected here in the survey. Portability 75% Did travel with hammock, which is also a bit misleading, as none of these customers have used our new door clamp, or the smaller wooden stand. It will be interesting to see how this may change in a future survey., or may change from country to country. Another very surprising find, was that 25% used the hammock for camping! We think that is great and another benefit we could use. But we wish we asked the question of how they hung the hammock whilst camping! Assuming around tent poles or in trees or the steel stand maybe. This could be an area we could research more. Sleep ? the biggest benefit As we knew already and hugely market this point. The biggest benefit is - getting baby to sleep, and being the better place to sleep, it really is all about sleep, for babies and mothers! 100% of babies were settled or asleep in under 10 minutes, the biggest reason for purchase was for better sleeping. 81% were sleeping through the night before 4 months old!!!!! Amazing. 62.5% use the hammock for night and day sleeps. SIDS 3 of the top recommendations from SIDS, is no co-sleeping, keeping baby on their backs, and keeping blankets free from face with enough air-flow. 100% of babies slept on their back in the hammock, and 96% could not roll over. 50% did not co-sleep, and 44% of those that did not co-sleep bought the hammock for this purpose. 96% said that blankets were always away from face and blankets firmly tucked in. These results I will be taking to the SIDS organization here and see if their results for cots and basinets come out as good as our results. ( I would be surprised if they are better than this). Older children and Pets One of the benefits that we also mention is that it keeps pets away and older children away too. I am surprised to see the high 60% of people buying for the specific purpose of keeping away from children. 99% said that older children and pets kept away from the hammock. This is a great safety feature. Price 100% of people were happy with our purchase price. I am also surprised as I would have thought a big ticket item would produce a few people unhappy with the price. It begs the question - are we too cheap! The price might be a reflection of customers happy with the product and so pleased to have decent sleeping babies that they would think this is priceless! Word of Mouth We are most proud of these results. 100% of people have happily recommended the hammock to people. 50% of people have told everyone they know and strangers 31% 6-10 people 19% 1-5 people 67.5% heard about the hammock from other people. (NB; statistics say 9 people is the average for a happy customer, 20 people for unhappy customers, we are well above the 9 average) Customer Satisfaction These results are also a dream come true. 81.5% of people put the hammock in the 8-10 range for customer satisfaction. 100% were above 5 which is also good. 69% said that this product is must have, putting this is the 8-10 range, all were above 5. 96% said they would buy a hammock again, most also added side note - ?in a heart beat, I would buy again!? Where can we improve? Getting more and more people to know about the hammock, and using the word and mouth a lot more, especially with midwives, antenatal groups etc. Doing some major hospital and clinical trials to formally prove some of these important findings. Look into the camping portability and researching that more. Keep listening to customers, most of our ideas come from customers, even when we are doing right. Emphasize more the most important and all of benefits of the hammock. Research these benefits and findings more. |
